Manufacturers have greater control and usage information on connected devices. From the device manufacturer’s perspective, connectivity enables:

1.                 The ability to allow remote monitoring and control of the device.

2.                 The ability to distribute new firmware and features to the product.

3.                 The ability to collect usage and information metrics.

4.                 The ability to remotely monitor product performance and apply fixes or alert users when necessary.

5.                 The ability to integrate with other systems like Alexa, Google Home, etc.

From a consumer perspective, they have the freedom to manage and monitor the device from virtually anywhere.
